Almost three weeks after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub, Bobbi Kristina Brown is still fighting for her life.
Doctors have removed her breathing tube, two sources close to the family told CNN on Thursday, one day after the procedure supposedly took place.
Brown, daughter of late singing star Whitney Houston, will now be ventilated through a hole in her throat.
“This is an indication that the patient will need this for weeks and months to come, as opposed to hours and days,” said CNN’s chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
He said the move lowers the risk of infection and is standard procedure.
Brown, 21, remains in a medically induced coma at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. Doctors are attempting to slowly lift her coma, according to sources close to the family.
The extent of her injuries is not known.
Police have said they’re treating Brown’s case as a criminal investigation. She was found in a bathtub full of water on January 31 at her Roswell, Georgia, residence.
Her mother, who died in 2012, was similarly found in a bathtub, just hours before she was to attend a pre-Grammy Awards party. A coroner ruled Houston’s death an accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors.
Brown is her only child.
The recent decline in oil prices has had a huge impact on the Russian economy over the past few weeks. This has put Russia on the path towards a deep recession and a double digit inflation in 2015, as reported by Russian Officials today. The Russian government has instituted a bail out similar to the U.S. bailout from years ago to help save the Rouble (Russia’s currency).
The economy is slowing even more as problems in the Ukraine are discouraging foreign investment and encouraging capital flight.
The Russian government is now taking what it feels are necessary steps to support financial institutions so that they can address the worsening currency crisis over the past weeks. This crisis has included interest rate hikes. Financial analysts are currently unsure and very pessimistic about the outcome for Russia’s economy and the outcome of the Rouble. It looks like this world power is in for a long hard fight to save their economy.
The Queen has been dethroned. After two seasons, The Queen Latifah Show is not returning, Sony Pictures confirmed on Friday, Nov. 21.
The syndicated daytime talk show starring the actress and musician made its debut in September 2013, and kicked off its second season this past September. Born Dana Owens, the host is expected to finish out her current run of episodes through 2015.
“We want to thank Dana, the producers and the entire staff of The Queen Latifah Show for creating a program that we are all very proud of,” Sony said in a statement. “Thank you also to our terrific station partners and advertisers who supported the show.”
During its short run, The Queen Latifah Show won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Hairstyling, and was also nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Talk Series.
Latifah, 44, commented on the cancellation on Facebook. She penned a note to herself and reflected on her time on the show.
“Dear Dana,” she began, addressing herself. “Just a little note to say Thank You… Thank you for your strong work ethic and great effort in getting The Queen Latifah Show off the ground and running. Your dedication and sacrifice was crucial to the entire team, and in the face of intense challenges, you displayed ‘True Grit!’ Your Family, Partners, Staff and Crew showed up with you every step of the way. Be very proud of that! Not everyone can say the same.”
“You can also say you have been a blessing to and been blessed by amazing guests and incredible audiences for this show,” the Oscar nominee continued. “We truly changed people’s lives for the better. So… STAY POSITIVE, STAY STRONG, and most importantly, STAY OPEN… There is so much more God has in store! Lovingly, You!”
She went on to address her colleagues and collaborators, writing, “P.S. This letter is for me, my staff, my crew, and everyone who was by my side for this incredible journey. The most important thing in life is that you wake up every single day and take chances. No matter what the outcome… believe in yourself and continue to fly.”

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones stepped out in together with their two children for a cute family outing on Dec. 22. It was the first time the couple had been spotted in public after they announced their separation four months ago.
Micheal, 69, and Catherine, 44, were surprisingly photographed together on Dec. 22 with their two children, Dylan, 13 and Carys, 10. The coupled hadn’t been seen together since August.
The group had an easy day. They ate lunch at Orso in Manhattan and from there saw the Broadway musical Motown and then caught a showing of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
The actor and actress have been together since 1999. They celebrated (likely separately) their 13th wedding anniversary in November.
Earlier this year, Catherine had stated she and Michael were “taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage.” Michael, however, was hoping they’d stay together and in October told Jay Leno he’s hopeful that he and Catherine could work things out and stay together.
“I’ve been away for a while, but everything should hopefully be on the up and up,” Michael said. “Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the end. So I’m very hopeful.”
The proud couple reportedly believes in marriage and aren’t ready to pull the plug on their marriage by divorcing one another.
“This is a separation, not a split. Not a divorce,” a source told People magazine of their situation. “They’re not giving up.”
And now it looks like that fortitude paid off!
Three months after her confirmed split with Liam Hemsworth, the former Disney star, 21, hinted to her 15.8 million Twitter followers on Wednesday, Dec. 4 that she wanted to kick back and dress up with her significant other.
“I want a boyfriend that will wear jean on jean on jean with me,” she wrote, while sharing an image of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa 2001 at the American Music Awards. Although the pop couple’s relationship ended long ago, their memorable matching denim moment lives on.
Cyrus, who released her chart-topping Bangerz album in October, has previously expressed her appreciation for pop princess Spears. On Tuesday, Cyrus wished the “Perfume” crooner a “Happy album release day”; she also gushed over the new Vegas resident in her Miley: The Movement documentary. “I’ll be a diehard fan for Britney, always,” she professed.
Despite Cyrus’ recent comments that she is having the “best time ever” post-split from Hemsworth, an insider told says that she has been exchanging “flirty” texts with her former fiance. The Hunger Games actor, 23, is attempting to reconcile with his ex. “She’s confused about how she feels,” a source told says, while “[Hemsworth] is telling friends he misses her.”
The “Wrecking Ball” singer, meanwhile, explained in the December issue of Cosmopolitan that her current focus in life is music. “I need to treat my music like a relationship — give it my time and all the attention it deserves – and that’s my main love right now,” she told the mag. “This is the best time of my life. I’m not going to look back on it and be like, ‘I wish I hadn’t been dwelling over a breakup,’ you know?”
Rihanna would likely walk around completely naked if it were legal, and though she actually covered up during her recent visit to the United Arab Emirates, the singer was still asked to leave Abu Dhabi’s Grand Mosque on Saturday.
The mosque’s overseers told the Associated Press that they asked the 25-year-old pop star to leave the compound after she posed for photos they considered to be at odds with the sanctity of the site.
Rihanna has yet to comment publicly, though she did post a number of pictures of herself from the photo shoot, that were deemed offensive, to her Instagram account. In the pics, the singer adheres to the mosque’s guidelines, she was covered up in a black jumpsuit from head to toe.

P.Diddy does not seem interested in walking down the aisle just yet.
During an interview on talk show The View last week, the 43-year-old admitted that he is not really looking right now, though he has been dating the 26-year-old beauty for over a year.
When the hosts asked him about marriage, he said, “It definitely would be a dream come true for me to just one day be ready for that. I’m not really looking because I know the responsibility that comes with that and I think that a lot of people, they jump into that and they’re not honest with themselves.
I’m brutally honest with myself. I don’t want to get married and not make that woman be the best. I’ve been close to it and when I’m ready I’ll make the announcement, but when I do it, I’m doing it forever.”
Bruce Jenner no longer has to keep up with the Kardashians.
After 22 years of marriage and countless rumors of a split, Kris and Bruce Jenner have called it quits. The couple confirmed that development to E! News following months of speculation that a spin-off was inevitable.
“We are living separately and we are much happier this way,” the reality TV power pair confirmed to the tabloid news station. “But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority.”
The Jenners have maintained separate residencies for some time, but had always denied that was indicative of a troubled marriage. In November 2012, Kris told E! that she and Bruce had become used to humoring rumors they were destined for divorce.
“We just laugh it off,” said the 57-year-old so-called momager. “We love each other and just laugh about it. … These kind of stories have been circulating for the last couple of years.”
Bruce Jenner, 67, hero of the 1976 Summer Olympics, has reportedly taken up full time residence in his Malibu home while Kris Jenner remains in the family’s Hidden Hills, Calif., estate.
The Jenners married in April 1991, one month after Kris’ divorced her first husband, celebrity lawyer Robert Kardashian, with whom she had four children — reality TV stars Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Rob. Bruce has four children from two previous marriages.
Together, they have two daughters, Kendall and Kylie.
Rumors of a split between the pair hit an all-time high last week when Kris’ sister Karen Houghton told In Touch magazine her big sis and brother-in-law were no longer an item.
“[Kris and Bruce] are separated,” she told the mag. “Their relationship goes back and forth. I would love to see them get back together.”
Masters of media manipulation they are, the Jenner’s announced their separation with impeccable timing Tuesday evening. Tabloids like IN Touch, US Weekly and People magazine had already put their upcoming issues to bed by Tuesday afternoon.
