Joyce Bryant Known As ‘The Black Marilyn Monroe’ Dies At 95

Joyce Bryant, often referred as the “Black Marilyn Monroe,” has died at 95.

The death of 1940s singer and actress who also went by the moniker “The Bronze Blond Bombshell” was confirmed by her niece on Bryant’s official Instagram page on Monday (Nov. 21).

“What a woman she was I will share our journey soon and please don’t forget auntie she loves each and everyone of you,” the post captioned in part.

Bryant rose to sultry sex symbol status and was recognized for her low-cut mermaid gowns, striking hair and iconic vocals.

Also known for her activism, Bryant fought against racial inequality and soon broke boundaries as the first Black performer in several high-profile venues like the Miami Beach Hotel and Casino Royal.

Migos: Takeoff shot dead in Houston aged 28

Takeoff, the third member of Migos alongside the rappers Quavo and Offset, has died. The 28-year-old rapper, real name Kirshnik Khari Ball, was fatally shot at a bowling alley in Houston where he and Quavo were playing dice around 2.30am; Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people on the premises were shot and taken to hospital while Quavo was unharmed. TMZ first reported the news, which was later confirmed by a local Houston outlet, this morning.

On Twitter, friends and admirers paid tribute to the late rapper. “I remember Takeoff being a very down to earth, cool dude,” wrote boxer Chris Eubank Jr. “Can’t believe I’m having to say this again about another young black star being killed for no reason, something really has to change in the industry.”

Via Instagram, the actor/comedian posted a series of photos of himself with his late dad, thanking him for “everything” he’s done with him.

Coolio, Grammy-Winning ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ Rapper, Dies at 59

Coolio, the Grammy-winning rapper, producer and actor best known for his 1995 hit “Gangsta’s Paradise,” has died. He was 59.

The rapper’s longtime manager Jarel Posey confirmed the news to Variety, saying that Coolio died around 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday afternoon. According to TMZ, Coolio was found at a friend’s house.

“We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and client, Coolio, who passed away this afternoon. He touched the world with the gift of his talent and will be missed profoundly,” Sheila Finegan, his manager at Trinity Artists International, said in a statement to Variety. “Thank you to everyone worldwide who has listened to his music and to everyone who has been reaching out regarding his passing. Please have Coolio’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.”
